Monthly Meetings

You are welcome to join our monthly meetings on the second Monday of each month at 9:00 at Edgemont United Methodist Church located at 1330 Eau Claire Avenue, Florence, AL. We meet in the "Small Fellowship Hall" located on the downstairs floor of the education building across the hall from the church office. For a map to the church, click HERE.

Our meeting agenda includes:
  • Social time including coffee and snacks
  • Introduction of visitors
  • Door prizes (to members only)
  • Business meeting
  • Show-and-Tell time
  • Gadget Demo or Book Review by member
  • Program on topics related to quilts and quilt making


Membership Information

The membership is open to anyone interested in quilts and/or quiltmaking, beginner and experienced alike. All active members are expected to participate in at least one activity (hostess, demonstrations, workshop leading, committee leader, or officer) per year and must attend at least six meetings a year.

Dues are $20 per year regardless of what month you join. You can join at any monthly meeting or by sending a check made payable to BBQG in care of 3300 CR 154, Florence, AL 35633.

What do we offer members?
  1. A monthly meeting with social time, door prizes, show-and-tell time, gadget demos, and a program.
  2. A monthly quilting bee - a social time where members gather at a different home each month to chat, eat, and maybe discuss quilting. You are free to bring a project to work on as well.
  3. A large library of books and videos to use free of charge.
  4. FREE workshops and classes - members pay $10 to hold their spot in a class. When they show up at the class, their money is REFUNDED. Classes are ONLY open to members.
  5. Opportunities to participate in community events such as: North Alabama State Fair, Pope's Tavern Pioneer Days, Quilts by the River Quilt Show, and sewing for charity
  6. Monthly newsletter
  7. Access to the wealth of information, expertise, and experience of our members. We have a broad interest in different types of quiltmaking and a willingness to help anyone who asks for assistance on most any quilt problem imaginable.
  8. Resource listings for Quilt and Fabric Shops in nearby cities, Internet sites, National Quilt Organization, Quilting Magazines, Quilting supply catalogs.
  9. A membership card that is good for a discount at SOME quilt shops.
